Privacy Policy

Who we are

Miles (“we”, “us”) is a running app that helps you build a running habit. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions any time: hello@runwithmiles.com.

Data we collect

• Account data: your email address and a username, used to create and secure your account.
• Run and fitness data: runs you record with the app (distance, duration, pace, and GPS route), your streaks, goals, personal bests, and derived fitness estimates (such as VDOT). This is the core content of your account.
• Apple Health data (optional): if you choose to connect Apple Health, we read your running workouts (including distance, duration, heart-rate summaries, and workout routes) so runs recorded with your Apple Watch count in Miles. We never write to Apple Health, we only read workout data you authorize, and we use it solely to power your Miles progress (streaks, personal bests, fitness estimates). Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes.You can disconnect at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
• Location (while recording a run): GPS is used to track distance, pace, and your route during runs you start, including in the background so tracking continues with the screen off. We do not track your location outside of run recording.
• Usage analytics: anonymous-by-default events about which features are used (screens viewed, quests completed, and similar), linked to your account ID, so we can improve the app. We use PostHog for this.
• Crash and error reports: if the app crashes, technical diagnostics (device model, OS version, stack trace, recent in-app actions) are sent to Sentry so we can fix bugs. These reports never include your health data.
• Push notification tokens: if you allow notifications, a device token is stored so we can send you streak reminders and league updates.

How your data is used

• To run the app: tracking runs, keeping streaks, computing personal bests and leagues.
• To sync your account across devices.
• To send notifications you have opted into.
• To understand which features matter and fix problems.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not show third-party ads. Health and location data are never used for advertising.

Where your data lives

Your account and run data are stored with Supabase (hosted in the United States). Analytics are processed by PostHog, and crash reports by Sentry. Each provider processes data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. Subscription purchases, if you make them, are processed by Apple and RevenueCat; we never see your payment details.

Your choices and rights

• Apple Health and location access can be revoked any time in iOS Settings.
• Notifications can be turned off in iOS Settings.
• You can request a copy of your data or complete deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing hello@runwithmiles.com. Deletion is permanent and processed within 30 days.

Children

Miles is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and note it in the app.
